Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Teko Modise has named his combined Soweto Derby XI.
Modise had the honour of playing for the Buccaneers in a Soweto Derby and now, as a football analyst for pay channel SuperSport, the legend has named his combined XI, which has some interesting choices, including Chiefs’ development products Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Happy Mashiane, who have both been in good form.
Modise has gone for a 3-4-3 system in his combined XI, with a strong attack featuring two of Amakhosi’s big boys, Leonardo Castro and Samir Nurkovic. He posted his combined XI on his Twitter account.
The Soweto giants meet for the third time this season on Saturday, January 30, following their two meetings in the MTN8 semi-finals. Pirates dominated the two-legged encounter, winning 5-0 before going on to win the competition.
But it’s not Pirates dominating Modise’s combined XI, with six Chiefs players making the cut compared to the five of the Buccaneers.
