The suspension of our domestic football has seen a drop in value of all players in South Africa’s top-flight. Soccer Laduma takes a look at five top Mamelodi Sundowns players whose market values have dropped in millions.
Thapelo Morena is currently the most expensive player in the Sundowns’ set-up, however, according to the figures on transfermarkt.com, the 26-year-old had a big drop in his value from February to now.
In February this year, Morena’s market value was at €1.4m (±R28.4m) and it has since dropped to €1.1m (±R22.3m).
Second most expensive in the squad is playmaker, Themba Zwane, who, in February, was valued at €1.3m (±R26.4m) but now saw a drop to €1m (±R20.3m).
Andile Jali, joint third most expensive in the squad has dropped out of the million Euro category. Jali was valued at €1.2m in February, but is now at €950 000 (±R19.3m).
Also at €950 000 (±R19.3m) is Sibusiso Vilakazi, who saw the same drop in value from €1.2m (±R24.3m).
Sundowns’ right-back, Anele Ngcongca dropped from the million euro zone where he was valued at €1.1m (±R22.3m) and is now at €900 000 (±R18.2m).
To complete the top five is goalkeeper, Denis Onyango, who saw his value drop from €1m (±R20.3m) to €800 000 (±R16.2m).
