Pitso Backs Future Bafana Coach

Pitso Mosimane has a very special place in his heart for one of South Africa’s young coaches and believes that he could be the future of Bafana Bafana.

Benni McCarthy spent just over two seasons in charge of Cape Town City, before his shocking departure was announced at midnight on November 04.

Mosimane was one of the people who did not hold back on voicing his disappointment after McCarthy’s departure from the Citizens and the Mamelodi Sundowns head coach has remained a big fan of the Bafana Bafana legend, even backing him to be the future of the South African national team.

Speaking on his official Twitter account, Mosimane once again revealed his feelings regarding McCarthy and how he is a big loss of talent to South African football.

“A very sad loss of talent in coaching to SA Football. Outspoken like me and big potential to surpass me if given time. Full of confidence and exposure to high level football in Europe. He really loves the proper way of playing football. Future Bafana coach,” Mosimane tweeted.

McCarthy has been linked to the Bafana post in the past and was recently quoted telling BBC Sport that he would not turn down the opportunity to lead the national team.

"If the Bafana offer came up one day, I would definitely be interested. Which coach or manager wouldn't be interested in being the head coach of his country?" McCarthy said in February this year.

"The national job is the biggest job for any football coach - your country's fate lies in your hands, you have the chance to guide the team to World Cups, to win the Africa Cup of Nations - it's huge,” he added.

Molefi Ntseki is the current head coach of the South African national team and will be for quite some time with the country eyeing qualification for both the upcoming AFCON and World Cup competitions.

However, the possibility of Bafana being led by McCarthy cannot be ruled out in both the near and distant future.
