The Giyani-born defender has left the Buccaneers together with Tebogo Tlolane, who is will be spending the rest of the campaign with Maritzburg United, also on loan.

Contacted for his reaction on the latest developments, Chabalala’s representative Ratshibvumo Mulovhedzi thanked Pirates for the move and for giving the 28-year-old centre-back their blessing.

“We would like to thank Orlando Pirates chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza for making it possible for the boy to go and join Bloemfontein Celtic as the move will increase the player’s chances of getting game-time. I would like to also thank two special people at Pirates, who work behind the scenes that I won’t mention their names, but have also been very helpful in making all of this happen. Justice Chabalala leaves Pirates to join Celtic on loan having been motivated with words of wisdom and encouragement from the two gentlemen I am talking about. We were humbled by their words and we appreciate that,” said Mulovhedzi.

On reported interest in the player from other clubs, the representative confirmed, “It’s true that there has been interest in the player from a number of clubs, including Black Leopards, Baroka, Maritzburg United and Cape Town City. However, it was decided by the parties concerned that a move to Celtic at this moment would work well for the Justice.”

It was in the Free State during his time with Free State Stars that Chabalala made his professional debut in Mzansi’s top tier league in the 2015/16 season and became one of the influential players for the Bethlehem outfit in a short period of time, before he was signed by Pirates in July 2016.
