Star Man Distances Himself From Chiefs Record

Samir Nurkovic will experience the title-winning feeling for the first time should Kaizer Chiefs go all the way in the Absa Premiership championship race.

The Serbian revealed this week that he has never collected a league winners’ medal in his career to date and was eager to finally do so with Amakhosi, the log leaders who currently enjoy a seven-point gap at the summit.

“I have not been able to win anything. This is the first time I am in a chase for the title and I think I am handling it very well, so far. You can see that I am scoring every game, so I am enjoying it,” Nurkovic said.

Chiefs as a club have also been missing that winning feeling – you will have to go as far back as May 2015 to recall when last Amakhosi walked onto the winners’ podium.

But the striker, who arrived at Naturena in July last year, said that had very little to do with him and hopes his goals will end the drought.

“I really don’t know how they ended on the ninth place (last season), because there are such good players there and I don’t really want to know what happened in the past years. We’re now in the present and all we have to do is focus on this season and try to end it in the best way possible,” said Nurkovic.

Chiefs face Golden Arrows tomorrow afternoon at the Moses Mabhida Stadium and will increase the gap to 10 points if they win.
