As reported by the Siya crew, Buhle Mkhwanazi is closing in on a deal with SuperSport United. Despite one year of inactivity, the club’s coach Kaitano Tembo revealed why he is the right fit for the club.
A protracted legal battle with Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (Now Marumo Gallants) meant that Mkhwanazi, 31, spent the entire 2020/21 season on the sidelines.
Now, as reported by the Siya crew, Mkhwanazi looks to make his comeback in the topflight and has been training with Matsatsantsa A Pitori, where he has impressed coach Tembo with his physical condition, despite having last kicked a ball in August 2020.
“Look, Buhle has been training with us and I think he’s been doing well, he’s clean-living and a professional – and I was even surprised when I saw him at training. For someone who hasn’t played for a year, he looks in good condition,” Tembo told the media in a recent press conference.
When asked what the Bafana Bafana international brings to the table, the coach revealed that the club’s younger players stand to benefit largely from Mkhwanazi’s experience in the topflight.
“He’s an experienced campaigner as well as a Bafana Bafana international. So, we are looking for someone that will come in and help our young players like Keenan Phillips who is only 20, Luke Fleurs who is only 21, Thatayaone Dithlokwe who is only 22, to give them guidance and direction, which we really lacked last season.”
“So, I just hope that everything goes well, and we will be looking forward to working with him,” Tembo added.
