Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana defender, Daniel Cardoso, believes that South African national team coach Molefi Ntseki might have it difficult in selecting the squad for the upcoming qualifiers due to impressive form shown by clubs and players in the Absa Premiership.
Following the 2022 World Cup qualifying draw in Cairo this week, Bafana discovered that they will face Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and Ghana in Group G of Africa’s second round of the qualifiers.
Cardoso has explained why he thinks it could be difficult for the national team coach to select the squad.
"Look, in terms of the qualifiers, we’ve got a tough group as we also have Zimbabwe in our group and they are a very good team. It’s going to be a tough one. Competition going into that one is going to give Molefi a headache," he said.
"There are Pirates that are coming up now, they started to play good football, which is a good thing. You can see we (Chiefs) have also been doing well, so hopefully we can continue with that and get more players from the Kaizer Chiefs set-up into the Bafana squad," said the centre-back, speaking to media at an adidas boot launch in Durban.
