Dillion Sheppard’s name has been thrown around at Naturena, too, as Kaizer Chiefs move swiftly to assemble Gavin Hunt’s technical team.

The club appointed the serial winning coach on Thursday afternoon and with him expected to start work on Monday, as the matter can be considered time sensitive.
‘Sheppy’ knows Hunt well – the latter having roped him into his Bidvest Wits backroom staff three years ago following his retirement.
If all parties involved agree and talks go smoothly, Sheppard could be one of Hunt’s two assistant coaches, the other being Arthur Zwane, who is also being earmarked for a role with the senior team, which would be an elevation from his current job as the MDC coach.
The Siya crew broke the news in last week’s edition of Soccer Laduma that Sheppard also had Mamelodi Sundowns hot on his heels – but the Brazilians are believed to have sussed him out for a position in the youth development.

Sheppard, 41, is a former Sundowns player and won the league title during his three years at Chloorkop when Gordon Igesund was in charge.
Given that he worked with Hunt for three season, that’s likely to swing discussions in Chiefs’ favour, but ‘Sheppy’ is admired at Chloorkop and that door isn’t closed just yet.
