Chiefs Could Win Title at Orlando Stadium

Will Kaizer Chiefs will be able to readjust to playing home games at Orlando Stadium? Listen to Teko Modise's assessment by clicking on the podcast player below!

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) have officially confirmed dates & venues for the conclusion of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season, and in a strange twist of fate, log leaders Kaizer Chiefs will finish their season using Orlando Stadium (home of rivals Orlando Pirates) as their temporary home stadium. Although the title race could very well be decided on the final day of the campaign, in which case Amakhosi would face Baroka FC in an away fixture at Bidvest Stadium, there is also a chance that the Soweto giants could be crowned champions on Matchday 29, in their ‘home’ fixture against Chippa United at Orlando Stadium.

Speaking on SL Radio’s The Carwash podcast, Buccaneers legend Teko Modise questioned whether Chiefs would be comfortable playing home games in their rival’s stadium.

“It’s still in Soweto so at least they’re still familiar with the surroundings but of course it’s gonna be very challenging for the players as well, mentally, because this is your rival’s home ground. I think it’s one of those things, you need to readjust to it because it’s the new thing now that everybody’s not going to be playing at their home pitches,” Modise stated.

He continues, “I [also] just hope that the pitches are well [kept], because the last time I saw Orlando Stadium’s pitch, it wasn’t in good condition. I just hope that all of these pitches are perfect.”
