Cape Town City coach Jan Olde Riekerink has lauded Justin Shonga for his work-rate from the few days he has been with the club.
The former Orlando Pirates striker, who was announced as a new signing for the Mother City outfit on Tuesday, is unavailable for the Kaizer Chiefs match pending on Saturday his registration, though the Dutch coach is confident the Zambian international will play an influential role in the team in the other coming matches.
“We have Shonga with the team but also not available for this game. So, that’s how we have to deal with it,” said the coach, speaking to the media.
“He’s been with the team for only four days and it’s still very early to judge. But I saw him play and sometimes as a 10 but that’s not the position he will play with us. I think he is a striker and he can score goals. He is a very mobile player and I like mobile players very much.
“If we are to have our whole squad together we have a team that can play very good on the transition and he will be one of the guys that can contribute to the end game of the transition because he can score goals and I have seen that already in training. I’m very happy he has joined the team; he has a nice personality and he has the experience. I see he integrates very well in the group,” the coach added.
The coach has confirmed that Edmilson Dove, Aubrey Ngoma and Abbubaker Mobara are the injured stars in his team, while Tashreeq Morris and Taariq Feilies are suspended for the Chiefs clash.
The coach is waiting to see about Mpho Makola and Thabo Nodada after they recovered from the Covid-19.
