Following his appointment as Kaizer Chiefs head coach, SA football legend Benni McCarthy has shared what the highly experienced coach can offer at the Soweto giants.
Hunt, who had also been linked to Orlando Pirates, beat the likes of Adel Amrouche and a few others to one of the most demanding jobs in local football, when he was unveiled as Chiefs coach on Wednesday afternoon, having penned a three-year deal with the club.
Joining the thousands of fans who reacted to the news, former Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy - whose name was also mentioned amongst the possible replacements for Ernst Middendorp, took to social media to congratulate the man who gave him his big break in football at the now-defunct Seven Stars more than two decades ago.
According to McCarthy’s post, Hunt is the remedy Amakhosi fans were longing for and has the capabilities to bring success to Naturena.
“Congratulations to Coach Hunt and (Kaizer Chiefs) on the appointment. Knowing this man and what he’s about, I have no doubt he’s gonna bring a lot of smiles on the fans faces and most definitely success that’s badly needed. Good luck and all the best coachy,” McCarthy wrote on Instagram.
Hunt is set to meet with his new players on Monday 21 September, but he could be forced to do so without being able to sign any new players as Chiefs wait to hear back from the Court of Arbitration for Sport on their appeal to have the two-window FIFA ban overturned.
