Sikhakhane: The Good Thing About Arthur Getting Chiefs Chance…

The support for Arthur Zwane in his coaching role at Kaizer Chiefs is growing as one of the club’s former players has thrown his weight behind '10111' to succeed.

After a difficult start to his new role as Chiefs’ interim coach as the team struggled to get the desired results, Zwane and Dillon Sheppard have managed to finally lead Amakhosi to a victory in their 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants on Tuesday.

With Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi having commended Zwane in saying that Chiefs have shown signs of improvement under him as the league champions are set to visit Amakhosi at FNB Stadium this weekend, Ntokozo Sikhakhane is appealing for the former midfielder to be given a chance and supported in his role.

“What people must understand is that Arthur has been given an opportunity to coach in a team that is always under pressure to deliver. But what I like is that when he was first given the opportunity last season, he proved himself when he led the team to the final of the CAF Champions League. Therefore, we can’t judge him based on the few games that he has overseen this season because he inherited a team that was already low in confidence because of the disappointing results that they have been getting under Stuart Baxter. Also, he is working with the players that were signed by the club for Baxter,” said Sikhakhane.

“The good thing about Arthur getting a chance at Chiefs is that he knows the culture of the club and he knows some of the players from development. Yes, the team has been losing matches and all of that, but it would be fair for Arthur to be given a chance like all the other coaches to start a pre-season with the team and do things his way. He should be given support to implement the things that he wants to implement for the team to play the way he wants. He should be given a chance to sign his own players like other coaches,” the ex-Chiefs midfielder added.
