With just two days left until the two mighty Gauteng sides face off against each other, Soccer Laduma takes a look at the last three occasions that Pitso Mosimane had a dig at his counterpart.
Mosimane and Ernst Middendorp have been making headlines in local media, with the two head coaches having their say about each other, before they’re placed side-by-side on the touchline this weekend.
The Mamelodi Sundowns head coach however, has for the most part been quite honest about how he felt regarding Middendorp and his Kaizer Chiefs side.
Here are three of the of Mosimane’s quotes that have sent social media in to a frenzy:
"It is a story with them, hopefully things will turn around. I'm waiting for Middendorp to talk when things don't go well for him. I'm just waiting because I know his story, when he was at Maritzburg and everywhere else, he was facing the DC [Disciplinary Committee ] everyday, why? Because of fighting the referee, he forgot now. Now he's on a gravy train, his time is coming.
“Remember why Middendorp left South Africa? You must remind us. He was at the DC (disciplinary committee) every day. He said the PSL was against him and he left. For what? Referees. He was complaining, but now he went to Thailand on honeymoon and he is back and he is benefitting. So why should we not talk about him? No, we will talk.
“He (Middendorp) is doing exceptional work and has turned the team around. He has said things about me also. So, I can’t hit back? But Chiefs is a big team, and finished outside the Top 8 last season. How long can you go? When you finished there? Should we say congratulations now that you are top of the table? They can only go up. He has got the team and they are difficult to beat. But we will say it: they are benefitting (from referees).”
