Former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is unsure as to whether or not Memphis Depay would be a success at FC Barcelona.

The Dutchman is heavily linked with a move to the Camp Nou in this transfer window as new Blaugrana boss Ronald Koeman looks to refresh his squad.
However, Van Gaal is skeptical as to whether or not Depay would be able to adjust to life at Barca, saying the forward is not like Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.
Van Gaal signed Depay for United back in 2015, paying £25 million (R543 million) to PSV Eindhoven for the attacker, but the player eventually moved to Olympique Lyon in January 2017 after failing to settle.
Depay has rediscovered his form in France, however, and having coached the player with the Netherlands national team, Koeman is said to be keen on having the 26-year-old in his Barcelona squad, but compatriot Van Gaal is not sure this is a good idea.
"There's always a question mark. Depay is an interesting player, especially when he's free to play," Van Gaal said, according to the Daily Mail.
"But we have to consider adapting to a new culture and a new team. And the first year is always the hardest.
"Look at (Matthijs) de Ligt, or Frenkie de Jong. Depay has talent, but he's not Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo."

After making only 16 starts at United, Depay has had a more fruitful return in France, with 57 goals in 139 games for Lyon to date.
