One Premier League star says the 2019/2020 season must be cancelled, but Liverpool should still be crowned league champions.
The Premier League campaign has been suspended indefinitely following the severity of the coronavirus in the country.
West Ham United co-chairman Karen Brady felt the season should have been declared null and void, which would render previous statistics void and Liverpool would miss out on the title.
However, Watford defender Jose Holebas feels there is no point in rescheduling dates for the season to resume due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
“In my opinion, you have to cancel the season, for me that is pretty clear,” he told Sky Sports.
“I would give Liverpool the title, they deserve it and have played incredible football this season.
“They are clearly the number one team. I think it makes no sense to keep rescheduling all the time.”
The Hornets, meanwhile, currently sit in 17th spot with nine matches left, although they are level on points with 18th-place Bournemouth who have an inferior goal difference.
