The Engen Champ Of Champs Takes Place This Weekend
A Jabu Mahlangu XI will lock horns with a Thabo September XI this weekend as a curtain raiser for the final of this year's Engen Champ of Champs in Pretoria.
The two former players will be pitted against each other in the curtain raiser for the final on Sunday, with six teams hoping to be involved in the showpiece event that will secure them the ECOC trophy.
Old Mutual Football Academy (Cape Town), Shining Stars (Motherwell, Port Elizabeth), Durban FC (Durban), Virginia Sports Academy (Bloemfontein) and Stars of Africa (Johannesburg) and hosts, SuperSport United will battle it out in the competition.
A press release stated, “To add extra bite to this year’s tournament, SuperSport United ambassadors and local football legends, Jabu Mahlangu and Thabo September have been invited to assemble teams to play an exhibition game as the curtain raiser ahead of the final.
“The Jabu Mahlangu XI v Thabo September XI face-off is sure to set football aficionado’s hearts racing as the two former superstars call on their football buddies to entertain fans with some old-fashioned show-boating, shibobos, diski, shoe-shine and Kasi-flavoured football.
“Both teams will field at least four members of the media, making for an exciting hour of football played by some of the country’s top-guns.”
The exhibition game will kick off at 12h00 at the HPC Sports Complex football stadium on Sunday October 8th.
