The Carling Black Label cup showdown between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs makes its return on July 27 after being cancelled last year and the supporters have since had their say ahead of the encounter!
The two Soweto giants will lock horns at the FNB Stadium next month, with the supporters fired up ahead of the encounter.
“This year it is going to be more exciting because there are some new rules and I was fortunate to be there at the launch at Park Station. I was happy to have been invited there and it shows how much this competition cares about us as the supporters. This is the only cup competition that gives the supporters a chance to have a say on which players that they want to see in the starting line-up.
"They can choose who they want to substitute. They have full control on the day! So, we need to all make sure that we enter as much as we can to support this competition and I want to tell the Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and all other South African football lovers to vote,” Mgijim, who is an avid Pirates supporter, told Soccer Laduma.
“The Carling Black Label Cup coming back has really made us, the supporters, very happy. Already in every street corner people are talking about it. This trophy is setting the tone for the season. The only pre-season trophy that fills up the 94 000-capacity FNB stadium.
"Supporters travel from all corners of South Africa and neighbouring countries like Zimbabwe, Botswana and Lesotho just to watch this game. Everyone wants to go and see the players that they selected. Another exciting part is that we get to select the new players and see what jersey numbers they will wear for the season in this tournament. 27 July seems too far now because already we know that the CBL Cup is back and we cannot wait,” Justice Skhalazo Mohlala, Chiefs supporter added.
