Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Josta Dlada gave his thoughts on Amakhosi’s current ‘building phase’.
Amakhosi have so far made four new signings after releasing several players from their books so far.
Chiefs will get their 2019/20 campaign underway on August 04, against Highlands Park, however, in preparation for a challenging season ahead, Amakhosi will need to face off with their Soweto rivals in a pre-season cup.
Chiefs will be locking horns with Orlando Pirates in the return of the Carling Black Label cup this month, July 27, at the FNB Stadium.
Speaking to the media leading up to the game, Dladla commented on the current changes taking place at Chiefs, adding that the new season will be one of redemption.
“We’ve got another chance to redeem ourselves, Pirates came second last season and never won anything. We came ninth and we are still in the building process, people got to understand that and obviously by doing so, you need to find the right player where you are lacking and that is what the team is doing,” he told Soccer Laduma.
“I wouldn’t change anything for the team, the coach knows what he is doing, I think for me, the most important thing is to get the right players for the right positions.
“So far, so good, we are bringing in strikers; that’s where we lacked, we couldn’t score the goals, but defensively we were not that bad although getting the goals was the problem.
They are still trying to bring in more players to try and fill up the spaces where we are lacking and I think before the end of the window period, the team would have gotten everyone that they need,” he added.
