Moeketsi Mothibe, My Story
The news that I was a father again broke on Tuesday night, the 14th of February 2017. I was the father to a beautiful baby girl - Kamohelo. Happiness and joy filled my heart because of two facts.
One, being a father again, and two, because I had been saving R250 Saturday out of the wage I earned weekly at the company I was working for. The money varied because of the hours I put it (shifts), and earned between R1 100 and R1 600.
My contract at the company wasn't renewed at the end of May, in 2017, but the consolation was the fact that I had saved for our newborn baby. As winter knocked on our doors, Kamo had warm clothes, nappies, formula and a water bottle (flask) for hot water, in case Eskom decided to switch off the electricity.
I’m a very happy and proud father today, to see her smile with four ‘rabbit teeth’ (lol), running around the house and saying things that only she can understand.
Savings are very important, be it for a specific goal or just to save, because no one can predict the future.
