Credit Decision A Turning Point In My Life
Congratulations to Batsirai Kativu whose emailed submission on ‘using credit responsibly’ was selected by Capitec as the best story to come in from a Soccer Laduma reader.

“Education is the key for a glorious tomorrow,” my grandfather used to tell me during my formative years in formal schooling.
His words planted a great zeal for learning in my life, but unfortunately, this zest seemed to be thwarted by financial limitations. So much so, that I could only go as far as finishing secondary school.
With my mere secondary education, I got a job as a general worker in a construction company. No sooner had I started on the job, than I was persuaded by my new colleagues to open a Capitec bank account, because of the bank’s flexible services.
Being one always eager to upgrade my life through learning, I then enrolled for a Safety Officer training course, only that I didn’t have enough money.
However, I consulted the bank to see if I was eligible for credit and the bank official confirmed that I was eligible. I took credit from the bank and enrolled for the course. The rest is history, and today, I’m proud to announce that I’m a Safety Officer.
The Capitec credit upgraded my life. The credit decision was a turning point to greatness in my life. The credit was a bridge for me to elevate myself.
Through this experience, I have learned that credit is worth taking.
My three tips for those considering taking credit:
1. Make an absolute evaluation of your goals before applying for or taking credit. Try to envision the achievement of your goals before taking credit.
2. Have an unbroken focus on your goals and do not divert credit money into impulsive purchases.
3. Weigh up the benefits of your goals, so that in the end, you are able to say, with fulfilment, that the credit was worth taking.
