No More Going To Loan Sharks!

Capitec together with Soccer Laduma found a way to reward and celebrate everyday South Africans, no matter what bank they do their banking with. Every month a winning letter gets published in an edition of Soccer Laduma, however, we have decided to also share the stories of others who have sent in their inspiring letters.

Themba Zwane decided to switch to Capitec, where he divides his money on the bank’s cell phone app to make sure that his money lasts the entire month.

“It all started going easy for me when I switched banks to Capitec. I started using the Capitec App on my phone for any transaction you can think of, be it to buy airtime, electricity, pay rent, etc.

“Every month day after my payday, I allow all my debit orders to go through first. I then transfer all the remaining for other payments for that month using the Capitec App. Normally after this, I will be left with money for groceries, transport and leisure. Therefore, I divide what's left into two amounts.

“The first amount I use it for the coming two weeks and the second amount after having saved it in my app option called SAVE, I transfer the amount back into my main account and then use it for the remaining two weeks towards month end. So, this app helps me to have money from my pay date until the next one. No more going to loan sharks during the month!”
