Vodacom Soccer Pimp My House Event
Vodacom Soccer gave one lucky soccer lover, Lerato Makakaba, the experience of a lifetime.
She won the Vodacom #BucsGetReady Pimp My House experience, which meant that she took home a 55-inch TV and a modern couch. She also got to watch Orlando Pirates’ 2-1 comeback win over AmaZulu in style, as the Vodacom Soccer team pimped her house with a large viewing screen, couches, a bar and a braai for her and 10 friends. Pirates legend Jerry Sikhosana was a special guest, and so too were celebrity actors Mdu Gumede and Zakhele Mabasa from the popular telenovela Isibaya …
I had to pinch myself
Lerato Makakaba (Vodacom Soccer – Pimp my House competition winner)
How did you win the competition?
Lerato: I was watching Sport @ 10 and I saw Jerry Sikhosana and Lucky Lekgwathi speaking about the competition to win a viewing experience courtesy of Vodacom. I dialled the number immediately (*117*177#) and here we are, I won! A lady from Vodacom then called me last week Monday telling me that my number had made it to the finals of the competition draw. Later on the same day, she told me I had won the Vodacom Pimp My House experience and that I’d won a 55-inch TV and a beautiful corner couch.
How do you feel about being chosen from all those millions of viewers that entered?
Lerato: It made me feel special and I was so excited. I was so overwhelmed.
Was the day everything that you expected?
Lerato: I thought it was gonna be a small-anyana event, but as it turned out, I spent the day with Pirates legend Jerry Sikhosana and Isibaya actors (Mdu Gumede and Zakhele Mabasa).
So you’re a legit Pirates fan?
Lerato: Yes, I am. Ever since day one. My ‘problem’ is that I love soccer. I used to play soccer at school when I was younger; that’s how much I love it.
Who is your favourite current Pirates player?
Lerato: I have to say it’s Luvuyo Memela.
What was it like having someone like Jerry Sikhosana here at your house in person?
Lerato: I was so happy. I felt like I was a celebrity. I was seated right in the middle of very important people. I mean, Jerry is a legend – he’s won the CAF Champions League and stuff with Pirates.
And what’s it like to watch a Pirates game on a big screen TV and having a viewing experience at your house?
Lerato: This is an experience I will never forget and it is a day to remember. I’m telling you. I never thought or dreamt of a day like this, but I felt like I always had to pinch myself to make sure it is real. And I’d like to thank Vodacom for making it possible for me. I really appreciate everything Vodacom and Orlando Pirates have done for me.
Finally, how do you think Pirates will do for the rest of the season?
Lerato: I believe in them. They are still second on the log and I think they will pass Mamelodi Sundowns easily at the end. There’s only a three-point difference (now six-point difference).
