SuperSport Sweat On Williams Ahead Of CAF Final
SuperSport United head coach, Eric Tinkler, will have to assess Ronwen Williams’ injury on his return to South Africa after he picked up a knock while on Bafana Bafana duty.
Williams, who has played an often heroic role in Matsatsantsa’s march to the CAF Confederation Cup final, didn’t make it onto Stuart Baxter’s bench last night against Senegal after injuring his ankle.
At this point, it remains to be seen how serious the shot-stopper’s problem is, although he could be ok to travel with his team to the Democratic Republic of Congo on Friday as they fly out to meet TP Mazembe on Sunday afternoon.
Tinkler does have Reyaad Pieterse at his disposal should Williams not recuperate, although suggestions are that the Bafana international should be able to recover in time.
SuperSport already have Morgan Gould and Reneilwe Letsholonyane missing due to suspension, and Tinkler will be crossing his fingers that he isn’t dealt any more blows in the build-up to this weekend’s momentous clash.
The team fly to the DRC on Friday morning.
