Injury Scare For SuperSport’s CAF Final
SuperSport United goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams, is a doubt for their crunch clash against TP Mazembe this weekend as they look to try and lift their first ever continental trophy.
Williams has been vital for SuperSport throughout the course of the tournament as they battled their way into the final, keeping his side in several games along the way.
The 25-year-old shot-stopper arrived in the Democratic Republic of Congo over the weekend nursing an ankle injury that he picked up while on camp with Bafana Bafana camp, however, he was deemed fit enough to play against the Congolese giants in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup tie.
Williams conceded two in Lubumbashi as Matsatsantsa lost 2-1, and there are signs that he may be forced to miss the second leg after being seen arriving back in South Africa on crutches on Monday afternoon.
The Siya crew is led to believe that the Bafana international will now undergo scans to assess the seriousness of the injury so that Eric Tinkler can make a decision on whether he can play or not.
Reyaad Pieterse, who has played second fiddle to Williams, will be the man called upon if Tinkler’s first choice shot-stopper cannot play.
