Revealed: SuperSport’s CAF Semifinal Opponents

Revealed: SuperSport’s CAF Semifinal Opponents

By Soccer Laduma - Sep 24, 2017 10:43 PM
SuperSport United will head to Tunisia next month as they target their first continental final following their impressive efforts in Zambia over the weekend.

Matsatsantsa managed a 2-2 draw in Ndola on Saturday thanks to a late goal from Thuso Phala, with that strike being enough to send them through on away goals after drawing the first leg 0-0.

Now, having landed back in South Africa, SuperSport have found out that they will be facing Club Africain in the semifinals, with the first leg – in Mzansi – set to take place this coming weekend.

Club Africain beat MC Alger 2-1 on aggregate thanks to a 2-0 home win on Sunday evening, and now face a trip to Tshwane in a few days time. Meanwhile, Matsatsantsa will jet out to Tunisia for the second leg towards the end of October.

The Tunisians – who won the CAF Champions League in 1991 and finished as CCC runners-up in 2011 – finished top of Group A ahead of FUS Rabat, KCCA and Rivers United, and also have one of the tournament’s top scorers in Ibrahim Chenihi (5 goals).

In the other semifinal, TP Mazembe take on FUS Rabat.

Well I like it for the Pirates, if SSU wins this cup, Pirates are guaranteed a birth in next year CCC, as SSU will be competing in the Champions Lig and Pirates will take SSU spot after we lost to them in the final of the nedbank, shapaaa matsatsantsa shapaaa... I know I have sent a zebra to hurtmentfortein by revealing this truth

@Mathintv previous results counts especially in group stages, Club Africain had more points than SSU hence they are tipped to start away at home

Wishing you all the luck SSU. But I still wonder why is it that North African teams almost always get the benefit of having the second leg games played at home. When and how does the draw happen to decide how the legs are to be played.

@Buccaneer 4 lyf, I doubt you would give the same support if it were Downs who advanced to the semis.
