Orlando Pirates mentor Eric Tinkler informed the Siya crew that he still remained confident of his side’s progression in the CAF Confederation Cup despite giving away the crucial away goal.
The Buccaneers scored two goals in the Confed clash against Uganda Revenue Authority however gave away the crucial away goal to the visitors when right-back Happy Jele turned the ball into his own net after pressure from the URA attack.
“Look ideally we would have loved not to concede any goals and go into the second leg with a clean sheet however I’m confident that we will do well when we go to Uganda in two weeks,” Tinkler told the crew.
“We showed we can score against them, and we took our foot off the peddle after scoring the first goal.”
“In the second match they will want to come at us, which will create gaps for us to capitalise,” added the Bucs care-taker coach.
When asked for his thoughts on URA who are relatively unknown Tinkler noted that they were a highly organised side.
“It’s always difficult preparing for a team you don’t know, with better preparation we could have done better. They are a well organised team and they gave us a run for our money. Heading into the second leg we will be better prepared,” concluded Tinkler.
