Maluleka Highlights Chiefs’ CAF Ambitions
George Maluleka says that Kaizer Chiefs want to succeed in Africa as they prepare for their first CAF Confederation Cup game of the season on Wednesday night.
The Glamour Boys will host Zimamoto of Zanzibar at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium tomorrow evening, with Giovanni Solinas eager to see his side use their home advantage to good effect ahead of next week’s second leg.
Chiefs are the heavy favourites going into the clash against the Islanders, but that hasn’t stopped Solinas from registering a strong group of senior players for the encounter in Port Elizabeth.
‘Mido’, who recently recovered from injury and is eager to get back to his best, believes that the competition is important, telling the club’s official website, “All games are important because that’s the culture of our club… We have to stick together. We have another match on Wednesday and that’s what we need to focus on.
“We want to do well in Africa. It will be a step up for us. It’s important for the club to succeed in Africa. Kaizer Chiefs are one of the biggest clubs in Africa and that comes with responsibilities.”
Tomorrow’s game will get underway at 19h30, with Chiefs set to jet out to Zanzibar next week for the second leg.
