Orlando Pirates head coach, Eric Tinkler, has indicated that other players will have to step up to the plate to cope with suspensions for their semi-final first leg against Al Ahly.
The Buccaneers will be without key players, Happy Jele and Siyabonga Sangweni, as they are both serving suspensions and will miss out on the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
Tinkler indicated that the Sea Robbers do have able back-up for their missing defensive duo but recognises that the players will have to step up their game
“It is truly a big disappointment. It is unfortunate but it is also part of the game. Other players will have to step up to the plate.”
“We have Tsepo Gumede and Ayanda Gcaba, who are both registered for this competition. Ayanda was there in the Champions League, so he has the experience and we all know how much of a plus that is,” Tinkler told Soccer Laduma.
Pirates will also have to do without the likes of Brighton Mhlongo and Oupa Manyisa who are injured, while Thandani Ntshumayelo is a doubt for the tie.
Do you think the Buccaneers will be able to cope with the Egyptian giants considering they are missing so many key players?
