Dikwena Suffer Defeat In First Leg CCC Tie

CAF Confederation Cup

Result: Tanda 2-0 Platinum Stars

Date: 09 April 2017

Venue: Stade Robert Champroux

Platinum Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat to Ivorian outfit, AS Tanda in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup qualifier.

The two teams did not commit too much going forward in the opening exchanges.

In the 17th minute Katlego Khonou was given space and time to shoot just outside the box, but his shot went narrowly wide of the upright.

Dikwena conceded a penalty in the 24th minute after Isaac Nhlapho was adjudged to have handled a ball inside the box. Kevin Zougoula stepped up and converted from the spot-kick to make it 1-0 to AS Tanda.

The match went into the break with Dikwena trailing by a lone-goal.

In the 62nd minute Khonou was replaced by midfielder, Vuyo Mere as it seemed the Dikwena were planning to limit conceding goals as a priority.

Although, Johnson also took out the midfielder Sibusiso Msomi and brought in the striker Ndumiso Mabena a few minutes later.

Sipho Senne hit the crossbar in the 72nd minute after being setup by Mabena with a defence splitting pass from just outside the box.

In the 82nd minute the Ivorian side made it 2-0 after Dikwena failed to clear their lines.

The second-leg encounter will take place in the coming week in Phokeng on Sunday.

Here's how they lined up:

Stars: Chibwe, Mabule, K.Mathe, Mlilo, Nhlapo, S.Mathe, Msomi, Links, Senne, Khunou, Shilongo.
