One of Mamelodi Sundowns’ defenders has been added to their CAF Champions League list of registered players, despite having previously nursed a career-threatening injury.
As reported in the past months, Rivaldo Coetzee’s underlying problem in his foot has been the reason that the player was out of action for almost a year, with indications that the Bafana Bafana international’s injury could be inoperable.

However, the player spent the past months looking to get on the mend, having turned out for the MultiChoice Diski Challenge side recently.
However, according to sources close to the club, Coetzee has been registered for Sundowns’ CAF Champions League campaign, with sources adding that the 22-year-old has travelled with the Brazilians to Malabo where they will face Leones Vegetarianos in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League which gets underway this week.
Indications are that Coetzee has shown a great deal of improvement and match fitness and it remains to be seen whether he will be added to the matchday squad.
The defender was signed from Ajax Cape Town during the July/August transfer window last year and is yet to make his official first team debut in the Ka Bo Yellow colours.
