Sundowns' Potential CAF CL Semi Opponents
Mamelodi Sundowns have already won their CAF Champions League group, but their semi-final opponents from Group A will only be decided later this month.
Pitso Mosimane’s men have put on a stellar showing in Group B since they were reinstated to the tournament back in May, winning all three of their matches as they won the group with one game still to play.
Now, after results this weekend, it has been confirmed that Masandawana will face either ZESCO United of Zambia or Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca in the semi-finals, with the two sides battling it out for top spot on the weekend of 23 August.
Whichever side triumphs in the encounter between ZESCO and Wydad will face either Zamalek or Enyimba, with the runner-up hosting Sundowns in the first-leg of the semi-finals next month.
Sundowns haven’t reached the final of the CAF Champions League since they lost 4-1 to Al Ahly back in 2001, and Mosimane will be eager to add another piece of silverware to his growing trophy cabinet at Chloorkop, as well as a sought-after star on the club’s jersey.
