CAF Draw Throws Up Challenge For PSL Duo
South Africa’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup have now discovered who stands in their way in this year’s edition of the continental competition.
Bidvest Wits, who finished third in the Absa Premiership in 2018/19, as well as Nedbank Cup winners, TS Galaxy, will represent the country in Africa’s second tier inter-club tournament, with the National First Division outfit becoming the first to do so as Nedbank champions.
The NFD side already know their opponents as they go into the first game next month, while Gavin Hunt’s side will have to wait and see which one of two countries they will be headed to in September.
According to a leaked document, Galaxy are up against St. Louis of the Seychelles in the first preliminary round of the CCC, while Wits, who return to the tournament after missing out last year, will take on Buildcon of Zambia or Eswatini’s Young Buffaloes in the second preliminary round depending on who wins their clash.
Dan Malesela’s side will get things underway between 9-11 August for the first leg, and 23-25 August for the second, while Wits’ African campaign starts between 13-15 September prior to the second leg a week later on the weekend of the 27-29 September.
Do you think Galaxy and Wits can reach the CCC group stages this year?
