Hunt On Champions League: We Want To Go As Far As We Can
Gavin Hunt Wants His Side To Go As Far As They Can In The CAF Champions League
Bidvest Wits head coach, Gavin Hunt is looking forward to his side going as far as they can in the CAF Champions League but admits that they will be up against a difficult opponent.
Wits suffered a 1-0 aggregate loss to Al Ahly in the first round of the CAF Champions League last year, with the Egyptian giants subsequently going all the way to the final of the competition.
“Last year, we were very unlucky in the Champions League, we lost to a team that got in to the final, 1-0 over two-legs and over the two games I thought maybe there were 20 minutes against us where they were good, Al Ahly, and we dominated them, we outplayed them,” Hunt explained to the media.
The Cape Town-born head coach then went on to reveal that the Clever Boys’ problem has been their lack of goals.
“Our problem is, we don’t score, we have the lowest scoring rate and I don’t think it is a PSL problem, it is more our problem,” Hunt said.
However, their January signing, Lehlohonolo Majoro has managed to make the ball stick for The Students, with Head Coach Hunt now having some confidence to go as far as they can in the upcoming CAF Champions League campaign.
“Tonight (Saturday), we got two which is good but it something we have to keep going and we will try to go as far as we can, we have got a tough game, much harder than the other teams playing in Africa, we play an Angolan side which is a good side,” he added.
