Ex-Bafana Defender Qualifies Team For Champions League
Former Bafana Bafana Defender Leads Team To Champions League
Former Bafana Bafana defender, James Madidilane, has led Lesotho Champions Bantu FC to the CAF Champions League qualification.
Bantu FC has been drawn to play against Mbabane Swallows of Swaziland in the Champions League.
Madidilane is in his second season coaching in Lesotho, after having made an immediate impact in his first year by leading the club to their league title.
Speaking to the Siya crew, Madidilane said he is looking forward to the task of leading the team in the preliminary round of the continental competition.
“I think it’s a fair draw and we will come up against a team that has been doing well. It is one test that as Bantu FC we have to pass because they are a very good side that beat Platinum Stars in the same competition last year,” said Madidilane.
“To be honest, I have learned a lot in my short journey as a coach in Lesotho. Coming to coach in Lesotho has helped my career in many aspects. We can talk about the coaching badges and many others, but it has been very good and I thank Bantu FC and the Lesotho Football Association as last week I was in a course preparing for my A license.
“It has been a big breakthrough for me and a lot of my former other colleagues want to come to Lesotho to launch their coaching careers.
“But you have to come here to learn and get your career started. It is not about the money” concluded the former defender.
