Downs’ Defeat Confirms Worst Form In Two Years
Mamelodi Sundowns’ CAF Champions League defeat against ZESCO United confirmed their worst form since 2014.
Masandawana grabbed a late away goal thanks to Khama Billiat that gave them a good building block for the second leg of the tie, however it wasn’t enough for them to avoid a 2-1 loss.
The defeat sees Pitso Mosimane’s side go three games without a win for the first time in nearly two years, when his side drew with Mpumalanga Black Aces, lost to Platinum Stars and shared the spoils with Kaizer Chiefs in November 2014.
‘Downs haven’t gone four games without victory since their run between December 2013 and January 2014 – that involved two losses and two defeats – and they will be keen not to match that when they face Chippa United in the MTN8 next week.
Mosimane’s side are on a 12-game unbeaten run in domestic football across all competitions, with their last three defeats coming in the CCL and CAF Confederation Cup to Medeama, Enyimba and now Zesco.
