Doc Comments On Sundowns Crashing Out Of CCL And Mistreatment By Moroccans

Former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach and current technical director at Baroka FC, Doc Khumalo, says that he is disappointed to hear of the mistreatment of Mamelodi Sundowns during their stay in Morocco.

Sundowns lost out on defending their CAF Champions League title, after suffering a defeat to Wydad Athletic Club in the quarter-final stages of the competition.

However, upon their arrival in Morocco last week for the second leg of the quarter-finals which took place last Saturday, September 17, the Brazilians were without a training pitch, as Wydad did not make any arrangements for a venue for Sundowns to host their preparations.

“It was such an unfortunate situation for Mamelodi Sundowns to bow out of the CAF Champions League and therefore losing out on the opportunity to defend their title,” Khumalo added in his revolving column in issue number 1042 of Soccer Laduma.

“It really saddens me to hear about the kind of treatment they received in Morocco. Really, Africa, if you want to be recognised as one of the best continents in the world, you need to get your act together. To hear of these underhand tactics in this day and age is really sad.”

“For Sundowns to struggle to find a training venue was very pathetic, unfortunate and really disappointing, especially for a team contesting in the Champions League,” he added.

At least someone cares. When Downs won, our own SAFA ignored to mention it during the awards ceremony. So I'm not surprised by their silence even now.No wonder African football is so dead compared to the rest of the world.
