CAF has confirmed the new date for Mamelodi Sundowns’ Champions League fixture against Horoya.
The crew had reported that PSL and CAF would likely grant the 2017/18 Premiership Champions the opportunity to postpone their CAF Champions League requirements in order to allow the South Africans to play FC Barcelona in a friendly fixture.
The two sides will play their CAF Champions League fixture on the 22nd of May 2018 following Sundowns' request to postpone the match to allow the Brazilians to host Spanish LaLiga champions, FC Barcelona in a friendly at the FNB Stadium.
The original match was scheduled to take place on 15 May 2018, however, Sundowns had scheduled their match to play FC Barcelona on the 16th of May 2018.
Furthermore, on the statement CAF have confirmed that the postponement will result in extra TV productions.
“We would also like to draw your kind attention to the fact that this postponement will lead to extra TV production cost, max 10 k$ (flight tickets modification, remote on-screen graphics and commentaries). Such amount should be deducted from Mamelodi Sundowns revenue,” reads the statement.
Meanwhile, Sundowns are away to Bloemfontein Celtic in their last game of the current campaign this coming Saturday.
