Venue: Loftus Versfeld Stadium

Mamelodi Sundowns cruised to the next round of the CAF Champions League after thumping Leones Vegetarianos 5-1 in their preliminary round second-leg tie.

Pitso Mosimane's men came into the clash with a two-goal advantage after securing a 2-0 win last week in the first leg.

Jeremy Brockie eased the nerves for the Brazilians after grabbing the lead as early as the fourth minute with a simple tap-in at the near post after a square pass from Gaston Sirino.

Pitso Mosimane's charges were threatening to get the second goal of the match as Lebohang Maboe and Brockie were both denied by the upright in quick succession.

Sirino made it 2-0 for Masandawana in the 18th minute from the penalty spot after the Vegetarionos defender purposely handled the ball inside the box after he felt he was fouled.

The tempo died down towards the midway point of the first half, with the Brazilians comfortably leading while the visitors failed to provide any threat at Kennedy Mweene's goal.

Sirino came close to getting his brace eight minutes before halftime, but he dragged his effort wide of the mark from 16-yards as the score remained 2-0 at the halftime break.

The visitors started like a house on fire in the second half as Seydou Sall impressively skipped past Anele Ngcongca before slotting into the bottom corner.

However, Sundowns restored their two-goal lead in the 55th minute as Hlompho Kekana cut onto his left-footed and rifled the ball into the bottom corner from 20-yards out.

The hosts bagged the fourth goal five minutes later as Zwane won possession high up the pitch, surged into the box and picked out Ali Meza for the good finish.

With Downs comfortably leading, Mosimane withdrew Kekana and introduced Toni Silva for the final 20 minutes of the second half.

It was left to Lyle Lakay to round off the scoring in the 88th minute with a composed finish under the goalkeeper after some good work by Sirino.

The Brazilians have now advanced to the first round after winning 5-1 in the second leg and 7-1 on aggregate.

Here's how they lined up:

Sundowns: Mweene, Ngcongca, Arendse, Lebusa, Lakay, Manyisa, Kekana (Silva 68'), Maboe, Zwane, Sirino, Brockie (Meza 46').

Subs: Pieterse, Coetzee, Silva, Morena, Laffor, Meza.
