Mamelodi Sundowns got past AC Leopards 3-1 on aggregate after drawing 1-1 in the second leg of their CAF Champions League tie on Saturday.
The Brazilians made the perfect start to the game as they found their all-important away goal in the seventh minute when Hlompho Kekana smashed a shot into the back of the net from miles out.
The strike seemed to boost the visitors as they continued to pressurise the Leopards defence with some good interplay from the 'Downs attack.
Leopards were buckling in the 19th minute when their goalkeeper handled the ball outside the box with Khama Billiat seemingly through on goal, but the referee opted not to card the gloveman.
Pitso Mosimane's charges were being put through their paces as the first half wore on, with Leopards putting in some strong tackles in an attempt to disrupt the travelers, but they absorbed the punishment.
Denis Onyango was called upon late into the first half when a Leopards striker penetrated the 'Downs box and fired at goal, but he was up to the task and made a top save.
Both sides were full of running after the interval. Sundowns were not looking to sit back and defend. Keagan Dolly and Cuthbert Malajila combined to get past the defenders, but the home 'keeper made the save.
Leopards were throwing men forward as they went in search of their first goal of the tie, but Onyango was on top of his game and made another fine save.
The hosts were awarded a penalty in the 90th minute, which they converted to level matters, before a massive amount of stoppage time was played, but Sundowns came out on top nonetheless.
Here's how they lined up:
Sundowns: Onyango, S Zwane (Asavela 71'), Mashaba, Langerman, Soumahoro, Nthethe, Arendse, Kekana (Moriri 86'), Castro (Malajila 32'), Dolly, Billiat.
