Banyana Banyana captain Refiloe Jane has already set her sights on the next round of qualifiers ahead of their first leg encounter against Lesotho today.
The Banyana midfielder who at 25-years-old is one of the senior players in the Banyana squad is determined to wrap up the first round qualifications with a positive result against Lesotho.
“We know they are a good team, their captain plays in South Africa so they are going to come at us,” said the Banyana skipper.
“However, we are looking ahead to the 2018 Women’s AFCON Cup of Nations and the World Cup next year. We need to score goals so we can wrap up our progression into the next round.
Jane’s teammate and Banyana forward Jermaine Seoposenwe says Coach Desiree Ellis has brought some excitement into the camp.
“The coach has emphasised that goal scoring in the training sessions we’ve had,” added the 24-year-old.
“The burden of goalscoring is not just with us the strikers but it’s the responsibility of all the players in the team. It’s also refreshing to the young players come through. We always want young players to come into the team and create continuity. This also ensures that there is a bigger pool of players to choose from,” she concluded.
Banyana take on Lesotho in the first leg of a second round AFCON qualifier at Setsoto Stadium in Maseru with the match starting at 15h00.
