SAFA Appoints Banyana Coach
Banyana Banyana Coach Named
The South African Football Association has announced the Banyana Banyana head coach.
Desire Ellis, who has been in charge of Banyana on a caretaker basis since the departure of Vera Pauw, has been named as the team’s coach on a permanent basis.
The announcement was made by SAFA today (Thursday).
SAFA President, Danny Jordaan, says the appointment of Ellis is well-deserved.
“We are glad to announce the appointment of Desiree (Ellis) as Banyana Banyana coach; she fully deserves the appointment as she has come through all the ranks of our national teams.
“Desiree has three tasks to achieve; qualify for AFCON 2018 in Ghana, qualify for FIFA World Cup and the Olympics. I am confident Banyana Banyana will be up to the task,” said Jordaan as quoted on Safa's official website.
Ellis has been the Banyana caretaker coach since August of 2016, following Pauw’s departure.
