Bafana Bafana attacker Keagan Dolly could be a no-show for the country’s crucial AFCON qualifiers against Ghana and Sudan later this month.
This came after the French Professional League (LFP) confirmed that Ligue 1 & 2 have voted unanimously to block their players from traveling outside the European Union.
This means that African players in France - including Dolly, will not be allowed to compete in the upcoming AFCON 2021 Qualifiers this month.
The French clubs say that they have taken this stand based on FIFA circular 1749 of 5 February, with regards to the seven-day isolation period that players are subjected to when they return from the international break according to the national policy and as a result, will miss the first domestic league game.
This news comes as a blow to Bafana Bafana who could possibly be without both Percy Tau and Bongani Zungu, who are facing a similar situation at Brighton & Hove Albion and Glasgow Rangers respectively.
Dolly in particular will be gutted by this news as his recent call-up provided him with an opportunity for much-needed game-time, something that has not been forthcoming at Montpellier this campaign.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns winger has made 16 appearances for the French outfit this season, three of them coming as a sub, while he has been used as a substitute on 13 occasions.
