Although Benni McCarthy has said he is not ready for the Bafana Bafana job, offering him the vacant post might also not be as simple as it sounds.

SAFA would have to pay compensation to AmaZulu were they to allow their coach to move on and become the next national team mentor.
In two separate interviews recently, McCarthy said he was open to helping a struggling Bafana and also warned that he was still too young to walk away from the day-to-day demands of club football in favour of becoming a national team coach.
The stumbling block, however, is the fact that he was appointed as the AmaZulu mentor as recent as December last year.
Siya sources have indicated that SAFA would have to pay the club compensation of around R2 million to release McCarthy immediately, and it’s understood that they would not have to if they only need the coach at the end of the current season as AmaZulu would then have ample time to find a replacement of their own before the new campaign kicks off in August.

McCarthy would be a popular choice – he is a former Bafana player, has achieved a lot during those days and has proven he can be just as good as a coach following a spell at Cape Town City and now Usuthu.
But it’s understood he is further down the list of candidates as Carlos Queiroz is first choice and Philippe Troussier is also in talks with SAFA to potentially take over from Molefi Ntseki, who was sacked two weeks ago.
The task would be to take Bafana to the World Cup in Qatar next year and time is fast running out given that the qualifiers begin in June.
