The Super Eagles claimed the point needed to secure a spot at next year's Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon after drawing 1-1 with Bafana,
Tau, who scooped up the Man of the Match award, admits they tried everything to secure three points at the FNB Stadium.
“We were trying to do everything to win this match. We gave our best it’s unfortunate that we didn’t win the match. We just hope we’ll still qualify. We’ll keep on going,” Tau told SuperSport after the game.
“We didn’t want to concede but they are a good side and they managed to score. We came back to score the one goal, we should have pushed for more. But they were very defensive, it was tricky with five defenders at the back.”
Bafana now only need a point against Libya ti qualify for next year's showpiece in Cameroon, and Tau insists they will be going all out to get the result.
“We’ll try and push everything when we get to Libya. But I believe the other results will influence the group.
“I think we fought hard today and we can always look at that and how strong we were and take those positives into the next match,” he concluded.
