Sundowns Midfielder Replaces Kekana In Bafana Camp
Sundowns Midfielder Replaces Kekana For Bafana
Mamelodi Sundowns’ Tiyani Mabunda has received a Bafana Bafana call-up to replace Hlompho Kekana who was excused from the national team camp.
As reported earlier, Kekana was excused from the Bafana camp after the player received tragic news about the passing of a family member who was involved in a car accident.
At the time it was unclear whether or not Head Coach Stuart Baxter will be announcing a replacement for the player, however, it has since been confirmed that Sundowns’ Mabunda is set to replace his teammate in the national team setup.
Baxter will now be without the services of three key players, Kekana, Bongani Zungu and Andile Jali who are currently facing a one-match suspension, while also awaiting an update on whether or not Itumeleng Khune will be available for Friday’s clash.
Bafana will host Senegal at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday, November 10 in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter before jetting out to Dakar to lock horns with the same Senegalese side on November 14.
The South African national team will look to bring no less than six points home from both encounters, in order to guarantee their place in the prestigious FIFA World Cup set to take place in Russia next year.
