Stuart Baxter On Percy Tau: I Am Delighted To Have Him In Our Squad
Bafana Bafana head coach, Stuart Baxter, is confident that Mamelodi Sundowns’ Percy Tau will be a great asset to the South African national team.
The 23-year-old playmaker opened the scoring for Bafana on the day, as the national team claimed an impressive 3-1 victory over Burkina Faso in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter.
The win subsequently increased Bafana’s chances of qualifying for the prestigious competition set to take place next year in Russia, however, the national team will need to win both of their upcoming encounters against Senegal, a tough task on the hands of Head Coach Baxter’s side.
Speaking after the match on SAFA’s official website, Baxter commended Tau, who was fielded up-front in the starting line-up, in place of the absent Tokelo Rantie who didn’t receive a call-up to the national team setup this time around.
“I think Rantie done a good job. He wasn’t playing enough so Percy become a natural choice, I think Percy is a talented player, he is certainly going to grow, he’s certainly got more to come. He’s got a lot of work to do, Percy, he’s a great lad, he wants to learn and I think he will get better and I am delighted to have him in our squad and I am sure that he is going to be an asset to South Africa moving forward,” Baxter said on SAFA’s official website.
