Baxter On Euro Mission, Watches Zungu Score
Bafana Bafana head coach, Stuart Baxter, is continuing his attempts to improve relations with players overseas and is currently in France.
Baxter went overseas earlier this year as he looked to meet the likes of Panagiotis Retsos and Joel Untersee to discuss a potential future with the South African national team, as well as meet with players that are currently part of his plans such as Kamohelo Mokotjo.
According to Siya sources, Baxter was in France to watch Bongani Zungu play – and score his first goal, against Metz for Amiens over the weekend, and will also be looking to connect with Keagan Dolly and as many other French-based South Africans as possible.
With Bafana’s next game only taking place in March, Baxter now has some time now to plan for next year and to throw himself into the crucial task of making sure that he qualifies for the upcoming African Cup of Nations.
South Africa currently has the likes of Zungu, Dolly, Lebo Mothiba, Lebo Phiri and Kermit Erasmus plying their trade in France, all of whom Baxter has called up at some point during his current stint as the national coach.
