Baxter Ropes Pirates’ Mokwena Into Bafana

Bafana Bafana head coach, Stuart Baxter, has roped Orlando Pirates’ Rulani Mokwena into the national team setup for the upcoming friendly tournament in Zambia.
Baxter named his squad today for the competition that takes place this month in Ndola, with a number of fresh faces being named among a handful of tried and tested Bafana regulars.
Along with his squad, Baxter also confirmed that they had invited Mokwena to come and join them on the camp in an attempt to ‘empower’ young coaches. The coach does harbour hopes of becoming a head coach one day, and will no doubt jump at this opportunity handed to him.
The young coach has been integral to Pirates’ form this season and has often been praised by his head coach, Milutin Sredojevic, as well as the players playing for him, something that has seemingly caught the eye of Baxter.
Speaking to the media, Baxter said, “We’re inviting Rulani Mokwena, the young coach from Pirates, to be with us on this camp because we do want to make sure that young coaches also are empowered. So he will join us, and he’ll look at what we do, we’ll use his capacity and we hope that we can follow that theme for the new steps.”
Bafana’s first game, on March 22nd, will be against Angola, before facing either Zambia or Zimbabwe a few days later on the 25th.
