Baxter Gives His Views On Bafana Progress
Stuart Baxter Happy With Bafana Bafana Progress
Stuart Baxter is happy with Bafana Bafana’s progress in the Four-Nation tournament that is currently underway in Zambia.
The South African senior national team has advanced to the final of the tournament, following their win against Angola in their opening match on Wednesday.
Following a 1-1 draw for the two teams in regulation time at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Bafana beat Angola 6-5 on penalties to set up a final with Zambia, who beat Zimbabwe 5-4 on penalties in their match, also played on Wednesday.
Speaking after the match, Baxter was pleased with the contribution of the young Bafana players against Angola.
“I thought they (Angola) passed the ball better, their possession was better. And then, I thought we settled down, especially the younger players settled down, and I thought we had a very good period (for) 20-25 minutes,” said Baxter in the post-match press conference as per SAFA's official website.
“The goal was unfortunate. The player took it very, very well. I thought we played well in the second half. I thought we controlled the game better in the second half. Penalties are penalties, it can be a win or a defeat. So, very happy to go through,” said the Bafana coach.
