Baxter Calls For Radical Change And Order at SAFA House

Stuart Baxter admits that serious changes need to happen within SAFA

By Soccer Laduma - Mar 07, 2018 10:47 AM

Bafana Bafana head coach Stuart Baxter did not mince his words when he called for order at SAFA House and for a ‘radical’ way of thinking to drive South African football forward.

Baxter spoke at an exclusive session with journalists on Tuesday morning and was quick to note that the entire system was failing the country and hindering the development of young Bafana internationals who can take the baton from the current crop of players.

As reported by previously by Soccer Laduma, the Bafana mentor outlined his long and short-term goals for the national squad following numerous meetings with SAFA’s technical committee and management.

“The entire system has not been working. It’s time we take a more radical approach when it comes to introducing younger players to the national team,” said Baxter.

“I’m ready to risk everything for the sake of this transformation. There are experienced players who I think are good players but they will have to become causalities if we are to introduce younger players to the fold.

“But in doing so I may lose games and if that’s the case I’m willing to take full responsibility for that. However, I can’t pretend that all is alright when I don’t believe it is. I have to be the one that takes this step. Whether I’m the coach or whoever is the coach this is a step that must be taken,” added the Bafana mentor.

“If Bafana is to have a future then some serious gardening needs to happen even at SAFA House. There has to be order in our relationships with the media, the players and the football clubs. We have to see the importance of a different mindset and taking a new direction that is beneficial for football,” he concluded.

Let's give Baxter 200% support. I have been calling for this a decade ago. Play people who are still building their career profiles. Youngsters play with passion and dedication not very much interested in politics and bonuses. They play for pride and money is just cherry on top however to amakhehla money is priority because of monthly bills to settle. I observed performance cycles of Egypt, Nigeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria as they always have about 2 year down and about 6 year up period cycles. Question is what happens during 2 year down period? What is it that they doing?

There are lot of structures which groom players so Baxter is now using the famous word to win our hearts he dismally fail so can he vacate the post and Safa get someone who is capable to take Bafana forwad as for this man is like steroises to the country, even Jordan is taken Safa down iets better to get Ngcobo to run Safa.

Good luck Baxter on selecting young players who are bench warmers at their clubs. This is not up to you or SAFA. PSL clubs have to work with you as well. If they keep on playing old crocks for immediate results, those youngsters will find it hard to only get game time when playing for national teams only. If a player like George Maluleka gets the nod to play ahead of Meyiwa who by the way is better than him and have a potential to improve as a youngster, our national team is in trouble

I wouldn't say I'm surprised that Baxter is also opting for the word "RADICAL" to win the hearts of South Africans
